Storytelling, Writing & Narration.
Hello, I am a narrator, storyteller and writer. I live in Scotland.
My first Degree is in Drama and English, and my Master’s is in Scottish Folklore. I’m a qualified Adult Supported Learning Educator. I worked as an Expressive Arts Lecturer in Further Education for ten years, teaching dance, movement, Drama, and communication skills.
Putting my knowledge of Scottish folklore to good use, I co-authored a collection of environmental folktales from England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales - Dancing With Trees, Eco-Tales from the British Isles, 2017. (See Books)
My second book, Lanarkshire Folk Tales, dives deeply into the folklore & culture of Scotland’s most populated county, including Glasgow. (See Books)
Funny Folk Tales for Children is my third collection. Hillarious stories from around the world. (See Books)
I facilitate writing & storytelling workshops for all age groups and abilities.
I’ve worked for The Scottish Book Trust as a Writer in Residence for ASN Primary children. My new Author Residency begins in 2024 with Wallyford Primary School in East Lothian. I also work regularly with Strathclyde University as a STEM Equals and Oral History writer, facilitator, and storyteller.
In 2022, I led storytelling and writing workshops for the Scottish Badgers and Scottish Wildlife Trust.
‘‘Astonished and delighted - at the @scottishbadgers storytelling workshop, actually managed to banish my usual writers block and WRITE freely and without fear! New skill unlocked - thank you @alligalbraith and Team Badger!’’ Dr Smita Odedra.

'Allison's storytelling added a new and hugely successful dimension to two inclusive and accessible STEM summer projects that staff from the University of Strathclyde ran. The stories, which were commissioned to fit with the STEM work, had a huge impact on participants, who found them a really understandable introduction to some challenging ideas in STEM.'

My vocal development is ongoing through Nadine George’s Voice Method. I narrate stories and books. My work has been featured on East London Radio’s Talking Stories, Scottish Communities Climate Action Network, Blues & Roots Radio and the University of Strathclyde’s Education and Oral History Departments.
Here, I narrate two environmental story-films from Dancing With Trees, Eco-Tales from the British Isles.

Jack & the Dancing Trees - a Scottish Traveler Folktale
Story-Narrator: Here, I narrate two folktales. The first is a classic winter-tale from the Czech Republic: The Twelve Months, and the second is a short, funny Scottish story: The Old Woman & The Robbers.
